Mull, Ardnamurchan, Lismore - 2009

April

I wanted to go on tour again in the few days I had available after Easter, so studied the map for a circular route somewhere in the Scottish Isles out of Oban.

Mull seemed a good choice with all routes requiring more than one ferry crossing thereby adding interest. In order to avoid the same ferry twice, I decided to cycle round to Tobermory, cross over to Ardnamurchan and then use the Isle of Lismore as a short cut back to Oban, avoiding busy roads. The weather forecast was looking unusually pleasant with big suns and a lightish easterly wind so all was set.

I knew from the map that this would be a much more testing tour than the Outer Hebrides, with several steep climbs on Mull and Ardnamurchan. With this in mind, I packed light.
